Countdown to Christmas | Visalia Photographer

In another attempt to slow down and be with my kids during this busy, mad dash of a “Christmas Card” season in the studio, we sat together for the simple craft of making a advent chain. I bought a scrap pack of fun holiday paper from the craft store, grabbed simple craft supplies from around the house, my kiddos and we went to work.

These little opportunities to stop and focus on my kids and record them in photo’s is refreshing and fun. As a mom it reminds me of how much they have grown and as a photographer it reminds me of why I LOVE photography!

This time of year is busy. It is easy to not do the fun things with the kids but, I make a point to make time for Holiday fun and use the opportunity to take photo’s on my kids because sadly I don’t photograph them often enough. Gingerbread houses aren’t really a tradition yet. I have great plans for them every year but, it doesn’t always happen. I love the Costco gingerbread house kits because we just get to do the decorating:) This year the houses were even assembled with industrial strength royal icing:) I hope you are having a fun filled Christmas season!

I haven’t taken family photo’s in fall leaves in years. Visalia doesn’t have fall leaves in the park like Woodward Park in Fresno. Since moving to Visalia I have found a LOVE of open fields, oak trees and the multitude of locations down town, that I just push the idea of masses of maple leaves aside. Saturday I had the opportunity to photograph the Craig family in Kingsburg and lookie what I found! Masses of maple leaves! Thanks Craig’s for braving the rain!

This isn’t just any girl, this is my sweet girl. I have had my eye on this hay stack for awhile and haven’t gotten a chance to shoot it. So I took my girl out for a mini shoot. I think I might have to take my kiddos back out in red, white and blue for some fourth of July photos. If any one is interested in a a mini shoot 4th of July style let me know!
